The question we must ask ourselves is, “If I die tonight, do I know for sure I will go to heaven?” Jesus told a very devoted religious leader that he must be born again to see the kingdom of heaven.
John 3:3 NKJV,“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
The reason we must be born again is because everyone is born into this world with a sinful nature. We desire to do things our own way and not God’s way.
Romans 3:23 NKJV, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23 NKJV, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Everyone ever born is under a death penalty for living their life without God. Our disobedience to God is sin and it brings death. But God loves us so much He sent His only Son Jesus to this Earth to die for us on the cross that we may be forgiven of our entire past and become a new creation.
Romans 5:8 NKJV, “But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
As Jesus hung on that cross 2,000 years ago He was not there for anything He had done, He is perfect in everyway. He died on the cross for the sins of the world. And on the 3rd day God the Father raised Him from the dead and He is now at the right hand of the Father in heaven praying for you.
Jesus told the devoted religious leader in John 3:3 you must be born again. Being religious will not get you to heaven. Being a good person will not get you to heaven. Only a relationship with God the Father through His Son Jesus will.
Romans 10:8-10, 13 NKJV, “But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is the word of faith which we preach): That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
“For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Are you ready to call on the name of the Lord and be saved (born again)? Pray this prayer out loud and mean it with all your heart.
“Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God and You died on the cross for me that I may be forgiven. Forgive me for living my life without You and for everything I have ever done. I now confess Jesus as Lord because I do believe that God raised You from the dead. Come into my life and into my heart. Thank You for writing my name in the Lambs Book of Life. I am now born again. Fill me now with Your Holy Spirit and power which sets me free. I love You Jesus, Amen.”
